Holly Gullen-Stout. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Stout came to Omaha in 1977 after finishing her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education-String Specialist at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Mrs. Stout was employed as an instrumental music instructor for Bellevue Public Schools for seven years and then for three years by the Millard Public Schools.

In 1979 she began playing cello for the Omaha Symphony, has enjoyed playing every year since . During the years 1988 to 1994 Mrs. Stout took a leave from teaching to pursue her Master’s Degree in cello performance at her alma mater in Kansas City after which she realized that she hadn’t had a family yet and that it was time to pursue that activity. Two lovely boys later she was offered a part-time position teaching strings with Omaha Public Schools and has been teaching part-time for 12 years.

In addition to teaching for OPS and playing cello for the Symphony, Mrs. Stout enjoys managing and playing cello with the Nova String Quartet, writing string quartet and string orchestra arrangements (with works for quartet published and distributed nationally and full orchestra arrangements which were performed by the Omaha Symphony during the 1994 and 1996 seasons). Mrs. Stout has also worked as Assistant Librarian for the Omaha Symphony from 1993 to 1997. In addition to all of these activities, Holly also spent three years as the Associate Conductor for the Omaha Area Youth Orchestras for whom she directed the Youth Chamber Strings and the Honors Orchestra.
